Andrea Zomorodian
Soprano Andrea Zomorodian performs nationally and abroad. Her work in LA has been focused on concert, oratorio, early music, and studio singing.
Recent highlights include: Bach St. Matthew Passion with Musica Angelica, a recital of a James Joyce song cycle Pomes Penyeach at the Huntington Library, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass, Handel Dixit Dominus, Purcell & Blow with Bach Collegium San Diego, Handel Messiah at Disney Hall and Long Beach Performing Arts Center, programs of Bach, Handel, and Keiser arias with Con Gioia Early Music Ensemble, a fully staged production of La Serva Padrona with San Diego Baroque, a thrilling collaboration with Doug Aitken for his installation Mirage in Gstaad, Switzerland performing Aitken's Song Mirror, her solo debut (Peri Quartet) in Schumann Das Paradies with Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic, touring Lagrime di San Pietro (di Lasso) staged by Peter Sellars around the world (including opening the 2019 Salzburg Festival), and Hildegard program of Hymns & Songs ("sung with blinding luminosity" - Mark Swed, LA Times).
Other recently performed repertoire includes: Handel, Lulier, Monteverdi, Praetorious, Diego Ortiz and Pasquini with Tesserae Baroque; Zelenka Povera fede, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Purcell King Arthur, Bach Cantatas 61, 82a, 153, 166 and 202, Vivaldi Gloria, Mozart Coronation Mass, Schubert Shepherd on the Rock, Zemlinsky Maiblumen blühten überall, Beethoven Mass in C, Bach St. John Passion, Handel Ode for St. Cecilia's Day, Carissimi Jephte, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass, Vaughan Williams Mass in G Minor, Mozart Requiem, Mozart Exsultate Jubilate, Bach Magnificat, Brahms Requiem, Allegri Miserere Mei, and Bach Mass in B Minor.
Upcoming engagements include: Haydn Lord Nelson Mass with the Flagstaff Symphony, repeated performances of the St. Matthew Passion with Musica Angelica, Schütz Musikalische Exequien, the ongoing world tour of Peter Sellars's production of Lagrime di San Pietro, and continued Hildegard programs with Ensemble Vocatrix.
Ms. Zomorodian graduated magna cum laude from USC and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to Vienna, Austria. Her voice can be heard on Frozen II, Outlander Theme Song, Star Wars, Mulan, The Simpsons, and more.
